From Luka, Owner & Administrator
I was born and raised here in the Carlsbad area, and senior care has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents have worked in residential care for over 25 years, and as a child, I grew up in several assisted living homes they operated. At the time, I didn't fully understand it — I just knew I had many "grandparents" around me. Those early experiences shaped my respect and compassion for older adults and continue to guide the way I care for residents today.
In 2019, I opened my first residential care home, La Costa Coastal Care, to serve seniors in our local community in a more personal, meaningful way. I strongly believe small, six-resident assisted living homes offer the best balance of quality care and affordability. With a 1:3 caregiver-to-resident ratio, fresh home-cooked meals prepared daily, and a calm, home-like environment, residents receive the individual attention they deserve.
As the Owner and Administrator, I am on site daily and personally involved in each resident's care. I know our residents well — their routines, preferences, health needs, and what brings them joy. I know which family member just welcomed a new grandchild (or great-grandchild), and I know all about the family drama. Communication is very important to me, and I stay closely connected with families, always responding promptly and honestly.
Although I no longer have my original grandparents, I am grateful to care for many "adopted grandparents" every day. It is truly an honor to serve seniors and families here in Carlsbad through Coastal Care Homes.
We're a small, family-owned care home where your loved one is known by name, not by room number. Where dignity, comfort, and genuine connection come first.
